Assistant Professor, Secondary Education

Mount Mercy College is a Catholic, coeducational college founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928. The College offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated, and graduate degree programs. The picturesque campus is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and enrolls approximately 1600 students.

The Department of Education invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in secondary education at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2010. The selected candidate will teach a total of 24 credits including courses in the Education core such as Principles of Education, Human Relations, and Secondary Methods. There may also be an opportunity to teach graduate courses in the future. Other responsibilities include supervising student teachers, advising students, and engaging in scholarship and service.

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. (ABD acceptable) and 5 years in 7-12 school teaching experience. Successful candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to support Mount Mercy’s mission as a Catholic college providing student-focused education in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy.
