Assistant Professor, Political Science
Mount Mercy College is a Catholic, coeducational college founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928. The College offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated, and graduate degree programs. The picturesque campus is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and enrolls approximately 1600 students.
The History, Politics and Justice Department, invites applications for a tenure track position in Political Science at the assistant professor level beginning in the fall semester 2010. Responsibilities will include teaching foundation courses and advanced courses in American politics, comparative politics, research methods, international relations, and state and local government. Teaching experience in a liberal arts college is strongly preferred, as s/he will teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in political science. While excellence as an educator is the top priority, the candidate will also:
1) advise students
2) serve on campus committees
3) participate in department meetings and activities, and
4) engage in scholarship.
The successful applicant will teach eight (8) classes per academic year, which includes one class in a January/Winter Term. A Ph.D. in political science is required.
