Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Mount Mercy College is a Catholic, coeducational college founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928. The College offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated, and graduate degree programs. The picturesque campus is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and enrolls approximately 1600 students.

The Department of Natural, Mathematical and Computer Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in chemistry at the rank of assistant professor beginning Fall 2010. The selected candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry and be broadly trained with expertise in analytical and physical chemistry. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate introductory and upper-level chemistry and physical science courses; advising students; engaging in scholarship with undergraduates; and serving on college committees. Teaching experience is strongly preferred.

The successful candidate must also demonstrate a willingness to support Mount Mercy’s mission, which is a Catholic college providing student-focused baccalaureate and graduate education in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy. Mount Mercy welcomes those of different faiths and is committed to excellence in education.

Qualified candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, college transcripts, summary of teaching experience, the names and contact information for four references, as well as a statement of teaching philosophy and professional scholarship as it applies to undergraduate students at a baccalaureate institution by February 15 2010, to:
