Mount Mercy’s department of communication, literature and arts proudly presents Pinkalicious: The Musical. Performances will be held March 15 – 17 at 7:30 p.m., with a special matinee on March 17 at 1:30 p.m. Seating may be limited, the musical will be performed in the McAuley Theater.

Special reflection from Mount Mercy’s Office of Mercy Mission and Identity The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently ruled that faith-based affiliated institutions, including colleges, universities, hospitals and social service agencies, must provide insurance coverage for contraception and sterilization to all their employees. In an effort to secure what many consider medications and procedures essential to women’s health, the HHS has overstepped its power and according to a significant number of Catholics, including the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, violated the “sacred issue” of religious liberty.

Mount Mercy University students have embarked on a mission to provide encouragement, hope and inspiration to those who need it most. Students in Mount Mercy’s J-Term course Healthy Lifestyles decorated pillowcases with inspirational quotes and positive messages that will be donated to the Catherine McAuley Center in Cedar Rapids and read by women who may need a special word of encouragement.

Mount Mercy alumni couples were treated to a special gathering at Bricks Bar & Grill in downtown Cedar Rapids on Valentine’s Day this year. The event provided an opportunity for alumni to mingle and share their stories while enjoying the atmosphere in an alumni-owned establishment.

Mount Mercy University's Associate Professor of Business and Business Department Chair Bob Walker, Ph.D., and his wife Kristy Walker published their first textbook on values-based financial planning, Personal Finance: Building Your Future, from McGraw-Hill Companies. The textbook is available through Mount Mercy's Campus Store.

It all started with a shirt that said one word: “single.” When Mindy Lawrence Chrisman ‘05 noticed the shirt Eric Chrisman ’05 was wearing, she was immediately interested in learning more about him. “From the first moment that I saw him, I knew that I had to meet him. His shirt was proof that he must have a great sense of humor,” Mindy said.

Mount Mercy’s student newspaper, the Mount Mercy Times, was the recipient of eight awards at the annual Iowa College Media Association (ICMA) Better Newspaper contest during the ICMA convention held in Des Moines on February 2.

For one hour students at Mount Mercy struggled to pay rent, put food on their tables, and maintain stable employment. The experience was part of a poverty simulation held on campus Sunday, January 22, which gave students a taste of real-life situations that are becoming all too familiar in today's society.
