A group with roots in both Cedar Rapids and Slovakia has been chosen as the high school honors quartet for the 12th annual Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival, June 16-22. The members of the quartet are the oldest four of the eight children of Tracy and Brenda Lesan. Violist Jacob was born in Cedar Rapids, while sisters Anna, Jennifer (both violin) and Rebekah (cello) were born in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava, where the family has lived for almost 18 years.

Mount Mercy University will host the Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival June 10 – 15. The community is welcome to observe activities taking place throughout the week. Free concerts open to the public will be held Friday, June 14, with harp and flute ensembles performing at 5:00 p.m., and strings, piano and brass performing at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, June 15, a performance including faculty ensembles and the Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival Orchestra will be held at 7:00 p.m. All performances will be in the Chapel of Mercy at Mount Mercy University.

Mount Mercy University and Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival have partnered to present two musical festivals on Mount Mercy’s campus, including the inaugural Mount Mercy University High School String Quartet Workshop and the 11th annual Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival.
