Mount Mercy University's freshman enrollment saw a five percent increase this year and overall enrollment remains steady following a record-breaking year in 2011. For the second year in the institution's history, Mount Mercy is serving over 1,800 students between undergraduate, graduate, and adult accelerated programs.

Mount Mercy University has appointed Michael Lown as admissions representative for advance and graduate programs. Lown was previously an admissions representative at ITT Technical Institute. He holds two bachelor’s degrees from The University of Iowa.

Heide Hesse, Admissions Counselor and Events Coordinator

Mount Mercy University has named Heidi Hesse as Events Coordinator/Admissions Counselor. She began her duties October 18. Hesse will be responsible for coordinating on- and off-campus events and have an assigned recruitment territory of high schools for recruiting and assisting prospective students. Her duties include tracking and evaluating recruiting data in order to initiate effective and innovative recruiting strategies. She will also be responsible for coordinating recruitment events, receptions, open houses and special outreach programs.

Mount Mercy University will host its first visit day of the semester on Saturday, October 9, from 10:00 – 12:30 p.m. Visit days provide a chance for prospective students to explore the campus, learn about campus opportunities, residence halls, and co-curricular activities, and have lunch with current students and hear what they have to say about their Mount Mercy experience.

Mount Mercy has named Elizabeth “Betsy” Winter as an admissions counselor.  As an admissions counselor, Winter will be responsible for recruiting high school students to the institution. Her primary duties will include managing, tracking and evaluating recruitment data in her assigned territory, representing Mount Mercy in a positive manner while meeting and interacting with prospective students and their families, and building relationships with high school personnel, among other things. Winter’s recruitment territory includes West Central Iowa and Nebraska.

Mount Mercy College will hold an informational open house on Wednesday, November 11 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Kirkwood Community College’s new facility in Monticello, located at 220 Welter Drive.Beginning Spring 2010, Mount Mercy will offer courses and majors for adults in business and applied management through the Advance @ Mount Mercy program at the Kirkwood facility. Mount Mercy faculty will teach at the new facility, offering convenient and flexible class schedules that allow adult students to balance classes, work and family.
