Mount Mercy University is pleased to host Audrey Boone Tillman, executive vice president and general counsel for Aflac Incorporated, on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Sisters of Mercy University Center. Tillman will be the keynote speaker for the university’s annual Barbara Knapp Speaker Series, an event named in honor of Mount Mercy Board of Trustee Barbara Knapp whose family founded Securities Corporation of Iowa. The series hosts influential speakers on business-related topics of benefit to the campus and greater community.

Dr. Bob Walker and Dr. Belkis Suarez are each Honorable Mention Honorees through the Iowa Campus Compact 2014 Engaged Campus Awards. The award program honors individuals and groups within higher education who work to strengthen civic and community engagement on their campuses. Associate Professor of Business Dr. Bob Walker will be honored for his efforts in engaging students in building business partnerships and advancing quality of life programs in Belize.

Mount Mercy University Assistant Professor of Business Dr. Dina Clark traveled to the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Academy of International Business – Southeast USA Chapter in Atlanta  to present “The Challenge of Implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards: Russian Case” on Oct. 26, 2013. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are intended to streamline business affairs into a language that is understandable at a global level.

For the first time ever, Mount Mercy University is offering online bachelor's degree programs in business and human resource management. These new bachelor's programs are designed to help students with some college or an associate's degree reach their educational goals in a flexible, accelerated format.

Mount Mercy’s MBA program, while steeped in classroom knowledge, demands that its students learn a practical side to business and management. The Capstone course, a students’ final course in the MBA program, offer students hands-on, relevant experience gained through working with and supporting local Corridor-based businesses. Courses such as Principles of Project Management and Entrepreneurial Endeavors encourage outreach and help to facilitate connections between MBA students and local business leaders.

Mount Mercy has a storied history with the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization. And now, it transfers that success and engagement to Enactus.

The Arc of East Central Iowa recognized Mount Mercy University's Master of Business Administration program as the winner of the Business Supporter of the Year for 2012. The university received the award at The Arc's Annual Meeting and Awards presentation. The Arc's Executive Director Delaine Petersen nominated Mount Mercy for the award.

During an inspiring lecture at Mount Mercy University on March 13, Van Meter, Inc. CEO Barry Boyer, keynote speaker for the 2012 MBA Speaker Series, explained a new approach to business that’s making a difference in big ways. In his speech, “Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things,” Boyer stressed the importance of finding ways to engage employees that encourages them to take a piece of ownership in their company.
