This event is part of Mount Mercy University's Mercy Week and the 2017 Fall Faculty Series.

Mercy Week Keynote: Dr. Matthew Ashley

In January 2017, Pope Francis posted a message for the Celebration for the 50th World Day of Peace, titled “Nonviolence: A Style of Politics for Peace.” He wrote that on this occasion he would like to reflect on nonviolence as a style of politics for peace.

Join Dr. Matthew Ashley, theology professor at the University of Notre Dame, as he explores how the church’s teaching has developed by surveying the ways that popes have used the World Day of Peace message over 50 years.
