High School Art Exhibit

Printer-friendly version

Mount Mercy University will exhibit the artwork of area high school students during a special exhibit at the Janalyn Hanson White Gallery. The exhibit will provide an opportunity to showcase the unique and distinctive artwork of local, young talent in the community, while allowing visitors to witness the results of art teachers' devotion to cultivating creativity in their students.

The 35th annual Area High School Art exhibit provides guests with an enormous variety of displayed artwork. The exhibit annually features a wide variety of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and graphic work in charcoal and ink, clay, photography and digital imaging. More than 100 students from 10-15 area high schools will display their artwork during the exhibit.

The exhibit culminates with a special Art Day on April 29, where participating high school students are invited to visit campus and hear a nationally known guest artist, as well as participate in creative workshops conducted by Mount Mercy art students.

Awards will also be given for first, second, and third place exhibit winners, as well as honorable mentions. Awardees will receive a special scholarship, should they choose to attend Mount Mercy. First place is a $1,500 scholarship, second place is a $1,000 scholarship, and third place is a $500 scholarship.
