Mount Mercy remembers alumna Peggy Whitworth

Mount Mercy joins Corridor communities in mourning the loss of alumna Peggy Whitworth ’64, who passed away October 25, 2013. Peggy was instrumental in creating the Brucemore Historic Site, serving as its executive director until 2007. Her unwavering advocacy toward the cause of preservation is credited by many as the keystone behind Brucemore’s magnificent grounds. Peggy’s community-building drive was also focused through her steadfast work on political causes, including campaigns for President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry. Like all causes she believed in, Ms. Whitworth supported Mount Mercy University with rigorous enthusiasm, having been one of four family members to graduate from our campus. Peggy will be greatly missed while her community legacy carries on. Click here to view arrangements.
