Casto joined the Mount Mercy community in 2012. An internationally recognized artist, he has received numerous awards in the United States and abroad. In 2010, he was the recipient of the FuLe Prize for international emerging artists by The International Ceramics Magazine Editor's Association, in Fuping, China. In 2011, Casto was awarded the MJD Fellowship by The Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Art in Helena, Montana.
His work has been obtained by several prestigious permanent collections, including the Ceramics Research Center at The Arizona State University Museum of Art, the Archie Bray Foundation, the FuLe International Ceramic Art Museum, in Fuping, China, the Centre Culturel d'Andenne, in Andenne, Belgium, and the Maruchu Gallery in Toki City, Japan.
