Mount Mercy has named Elizabeth “Betsy” Winter as an admissions counselor.
As an admissions counselor, Winter will be responsible for recruiting high school students to the institution. Her primary duties will include managing, tracking and evaluating recruitment data in her assigned territory, representing Mount Mercy in a positive manner while meeting and interacting with prospective students and their families, and building relationships with high school personnel, among other things. Winter’s recruitment territory includes West Central Iowa and Nebraska.
Prior to joining Mount Mercy, Winter served as a financial aid advisor and graduate assistant for the Office of Student Financial Aid at Iowa State University, where she counseled potential and current students about financial aid resources, gave financial aid presentations, and served as a resource for faculty and staff on campus regarding financial aid implications. While at Iowa State, Winter also served in the Margaret Sloss Women’s Center as a marketing/publicity practicum student.
Winter has also served as a senior intern in the Office of Admissions at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., where she interviewed prospective students, attended college fairs, and assisted in Visit Day coordination and activities.
She holds a Masters of Education in educational leadership and policy studies from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in music from Lawrence University. While earning her Master’s degree at Iowa State, she served as her program’s interview days coordinator, where she provided resources on graduate information, assistantship interviews, orientation details, and other graduate coordination efforts.
