Clint Dietrich

Staying close to his home

By Andria Pooley - News Editor

If you don’t find Clint Dietrich working diligently in events, he’ll most likely be in his room, participating in a hair-raising Mario Kart tournament with his roommates. Even though this busy senior is thinking about graduation and finals, he always finds time to have a little fun and enjoy college life while he can.

Dietrich is an elementary education major, but instead of pursuing a career filled with 7-year-olds, he is going to be staying at Mount Mercy, joining the school staff as Assistant Director of Institutional Events. Dietrich has moved up from a work-study student in events, to a student manager, and finally to the position of assistant manager which he will be taking after graduation.

“I am really looking forward to improving the events department as well as being a part of so many other changes that will be happening (on campus),” said Dietrich.

Dietrich really enjoyed his time at Mount Mercy, and has been involved in everything from playing soccer and being a resident assistant, to going on service trips and participating in emerging leaders.

“My favorite part about Mount Mercy is I have been able to get really involved in things that I enjoy such as Student Ambassadors and M2AP Board,” said Dietrich.

Dietrich has been extremely involved in M2AP Board this year, which is an organization that provides fun activities on campus for students to participate in. You may recognize him from playing the Bob Barker role at The Price Is Right a few weeks ago.

Dietrich has helped organize other events on campus including popular attractions such as BINGO, canoe trips, Vegas Night, Easter egg hunts, and the events of Spring Fling Week.

When Dietrich isn’t putting on activities or organizing events, he likes to go camping, fishing, play sports, and spend time with his family who lives in Walford. No time is wasted time for this ambitious senior.

When asked why he made the sudden change in his job choice and chose to stay at Mount Mercy Dietrich said, “I had a change in my career path and am still not sure where it will take me, but I love being here at Mount Mercy and it was a good job to get right out of college for me.”
