Julie McIntosh joined Mount Mercy University in 2005 as a clinical instructor and in 2007 became a Lecturer of Nursing. Before coming to Mount Mercy, she worked at several hospitals, most recently at St. Luke's Hospital in the Pediatric, Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) as a staff nurse and staff educator.

McIntosh is a registered nurse and is a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses and the nursing honor society Sigma Theta Tau. She volunteers at the Community Health Free Medical Clinic, local middle and high schools, and the St. Jude's Catholic Church.

Her passion is pediatric nursing and patient and family education. While at St. Luke's Hospital, she was instrumental in advancing the educational material available for Pediatric, PICU, and NICU families and patients. In 2006, McIntosh received the St. Luke's Hospital Commitment to Clinical Excellence Award in 2007 the Corridor Business Journal's Healthcare Hero Non-Physician Award for her dedication to patient and family education.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time watching her children participate in activities and events.
