Journalism Job Possibilities

The journalism major would prepare students for a career in the news media or related professional writing fields. It can open the door to working in newspapers, magazines, newsletters and/or specialized media-oriented careers in politics, government or the corporate realm. A journalism major can also be used in print-oriented news media, such as writing for Web-based e-publications. First year graduates report salaries ranging from $15,000-30,000*.

*Salaries are ranges reported by 2002 Mount Mercy graduates.
