The Healthiest State Initiative is a privately led public initiative intended to inspire Iowans and their communities throughout the state to improve their health and happiness. To achieve our goal, individuals, families, businesses, faith-based organizations, not-for-profits and the public sector will unite in a community-focused effort to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation by 2016.
Wednesday, October 3 @ Noon
Last year, Iowans made history when more than 291,000 individuals participated in the Start Somewhere Walk that kicked off the Healthiest State Initiative. On October 3, 2012, Iowans will do it all again. Join the Mount Mercy University community and walk a kilometer (0.62 miles).
Stop by the Hilltop Grill at 11:45am to register. Walk will begin at Noon. Mount Mercy University students and employees may register to win door prizes – walk t-shirts and pedometers. The walk will be three laps around the “green space” in central campus.
Mount Mercy supports the Healthiest State Initiative by offering events and activities designed to promote a healthier lifestyle. Events include the newly launched Start Somewhere Wa1k, the Live Healthy Iowa 100 Day Challenge, Learn Over Lunch Presentations, fitness classes, campus walking trails, Bike to Lunch outings, and a RAGBRAI team.
