Education Major - Description & Courses
Instructional Strategist Endorsement
Endorsements are available in elementary and secondary education. All students must complete a minimum of one endorsement.
Elementary Education majors, in addition to their elementary education major, must also obtain an endorsement in at least one academic area. The currently available endorsements are:
- basic science
- teacher pre-kindergarten through grade 3 including special education
- English/language arts
- mathematics
- middle school (5-8)
- reading
- social science - history
- social science - social studies
- special education - instructional strategist
- speech communication/theatre
Secondary Education must have a teaching major of at least 30 semester hours in an academic field. The optional teaching minor of 24 semester hours may be elected. The available majors (30 hour original endorsements) are:
- art
- business - general
- business - marketing/management
- english/language arts
- mathematics
- music
- science - biological
- social science - american government
- social science - american history
- social science - psychology
- social science - world history
- speech communication/theatre
Teaching minor (24 hour) additional endorsements include:
- english/language arts
- mathematics
- middle school (5-8)
- science - chemistry
- science - general science
- social science - american government
- social science - american history
- social science - economics
- social science - psychology
- social science - sociology
- special education - instructional strategist
- speech communication/theatre
