All work must be original and authored solely by the student. The contest is open to students who are currently juniors in high school (11th grade). Mount Mercy University faculty members serve as judges for the contest; their decisions are final. Winners will be individually notified of the results by phone, mail, or email. Prize recipients are responsible for any potential reporting or tax responsibilities. All stories and poems remain the property of the students who wrote or created them. By submitting a story or poem for this contest, the student may also be eligible for the publication of her or his work by Mount Mercy University. The names of winners and their high schools will be published. Mount Mercy University normally takes photographs or video of campus events, such as the Scholarship Festival. Unless students or parents request otherwise, participation in the awards reception will be considered permission to share such information and material publicly.
