Associate Professor of Nursing Carol Heim has been with the Mount Mercy nursing department since 1983. Prior to coming to Mount Mercy she worked as a registered nurse (RN) at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, and later served in the cardiac telemetry unit at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She continues to work in a faculty on-call position in the Surgical Inpatient Center at Mercy Medical Center.

Heim's clinical experience includes general medical care, cardiac telemetry, surgical urology/gynecology, and general surgical nursing. She belongs to Sigma Theta Tau International: Kappa Xi chapter, and is on a planning committee for the Nursing Student Cancer Conference, which is sponsored by Mercy Cancer Center and is offered to nursing students from Mount Mercy, Coe College, and Kirkwood Community College every other December. She was also selected as the Dr. Thomas Feld Chair for Teaching Excellence for 2004-06.

In her spare time, Heim enjoys reading, watching movies, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
