Service Trips

Serve where genuine need exists in another area of our country. Witness some of the rich cultural diversity of our country and its peoples. Build relationships with some truly great people -- at the service site and within the Mount Mercy College group. Have your eyes opened and horizons expanded in new ways. Gain a new perspective to bring back to service here at home. If you have questions, contact Susan Davidson at sdavid@mtmercy.edu. The cost of each trip is $100 per student. Fund-raising opportunities to help meet the financial responsibility will be offered for the trip.

Hurricane Help 5

Spend winter term break (January) in New Orleans, working with the on-going recovery effort for Hurricane Katrina. (This will be Mount Mercy's fifth time to send a crew. It may be yesterday's news, but it's still today's suffering and need.)

Alternative Spring Break: Journey to la frontera

Travel to Hidalgo County, Texas to work for Proyecto Azteca, constructing homes for and with residents of the colonias. Will include a brief trip across the border into Mexico. This March, make your spring break mean something.

Appalachian Spring

The week after final exams in May, share with other Mount Mercy folks a week in the Appalachian region, where natural beauty and a unique culture are unfortunately accompanied too often by poverty and substandard housing and education opportunities.
