More than 80 years ago, the Sisters of Mercy sought to unite people with opportunity through education. Today, with this distinct plan for Mount Mercy's future, we endeavor to be as wise and bold. We begin by focusing on the heart of "the Hill" with a new University Center, which bridges Regina and McAuley halls, and a central outdoor gathering space.
The Centerpiece of the University Community
The 43,500-square-foot University Center will provide new and renovated spaces, equipped with state-of-the-art technology for:
The Central Outdoor Gathering Space
This new outdoor space, spanning from Warde Hall to the new University Center, will enhance the Mount Mercy campus with:
Arts Complex and Gallery
Bringing Together the Arts Under One Roof
The renovated Lundy Commons will house studio arts, graphic design, communications, literature, journalism, creative writing, film studies and drama. Plus an expanded art gallery will provide greater visibility for student, faculty and guest art exhibits.
Theater Renovation
Providing a professional venue for new and ambitious productions
An improved stage, enhanced theater lighting, better acoustics and comfortable seating will transform the experiences of those attending and mounting theatrical performances. Guests will enjoy an expanded lobby and the convenience of three theater entrances.
Wellness & Sports Center
Helping students lead healthy, dynamic lives outside the classroom
The expanded center will support 15 intercollegiate athletic teams, accomodate better practice schedules, increase intramural and recreation programs, improve student interaction and assist in student recruitment and retention.
