Assistant Professor of Business Management (Tenure Track)

Mount Mercy University Department of Business is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Business Management.  This faculty position will teach a variety of management classes, conduct research, provide leadership for the Management Major, and fulfill other University and community related activities as needed to achieve tenure.   

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of management classes, most importantly, Principles of Management – the required course for all Business Majors. 
  • Research in the field
  • Advise Students and provide leadership for the Management Major
  • Fulfill all university and community related activities needed to achieve tenure

Education and Experience:  Ph.D or DBA in Management preferred.  Preference may be given to those with business experience and/or college or university level teaching experience.

Mount Mercy University Benefits & Retirement Information

Eligibility

Employee and their dependents are generally eligible for group health/dental coverage on the first day of the month immediately following date of employment. 

Medical

  • Wellmark Alliance Select PPO Network
  • Employee monthly premiums:  $75.00 EE, $274 EE + Spouse, $241 EE+Child(ren), $379 Family  
  • $10 Office visit for PCP and $20 for Specialist
  • $1,000 single/$2,000 annual family deductible
  • $2,000 single/$4,000 annual out of pocket maximum
  • 80%/20% co-insurance for major medical services when PPO providers are utilized
  • Annual wellness/preventive benefits paid at 100% for eligible routine physicals, vision exams, etc.
  • Rx deductible $50 single/$100 family, retail copays of $10, $20, or $30.     

Dental 

  • Delta Dental Premier Network 
  • Employee monthly premiums: $10.50 EE, $64.50 EE + Spouse, $60.50 EE + Child(ren), $75.50 Family  
  • Preventive check up covered at 100%, twice per benefit period 
  •  80% coverage for basic services (fillings, root canals) and 50% coverage for major services (bridges, crowns). 
  •  $1,500 annual benefit maximum per plan member and $1,500 orthodontia lifetime benefit per plan member. 

Life Insurance

  • Employee Life insurance and AD&D of one times the employee’s annual salary paid at 100% by University.
  • Supplemental term life insurance may be purchased by the employee for self, spouse, or dependent children.
  • Sick leave is earned at the rate of 1 day per month from August - May, to a maximum accumulation of 60 days.

Short Term & Long Term Disability Insurance

  • Salary continuation Benefit is 60% of base salary with a maximum of $3,000/month
  • Benefit continuation to age 65
  • The University currently pays 100% of the LTD premium for employees

Flexible Benefit Plan

  • Medical and/or Dependent care spending accounts may be established that allow an employee to set aside a portion of earnings to pay for unreimbursed medical care and/or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis.

Employee Assistance Program

  • Provided to employee and family members to help with short-term counseling, referral services, and resources to support personal issues.   
  • All full time faculty are eligible to participate in Mount Mercy’s 401k plan.  The University matches 100% of the first 6% of pay.  Employee deferrals can be invested in either a Traditional 401(k) pre-tax plan or a Roth 401(k) after-tax plan.
