Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate biology and nursing majors as well as non-majors; advising students; engaging in scholarship with undergraduates; and serving on college committees. A Ph.D. is required, and teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Successful candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to support Mount Mercy’s mission as a Catholic university providing student-focused education in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy. Mount Mercy University welcomes those of different faiths and is committed to excellence in education and community service.

Qualified candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, college transcripts, summary of teaching experience, the names and contact information for four references, as well as a statement of teaching philosophy and professional scholarship as it applies to undergraduate students at a baccalaureate institution. Initial screening of candidates will begin March 1 2012 and continue until the position is filled.  Submissions should be emailed as Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat attachments to: hr@mtmercy.edu with the subject line, “Assistant Professor of Biology.”  Only application materials emailed to this address will be considered.  Application materials submitted on paper will not be reviewed.
