Graphic Design
The Graphic Design major at Mount Mercy College provides a strong technical and conceptual foundation for future designers of printed work and web designs. Students work with the latest software and become proficient in Photoshop, Ilustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and other design tools. In addition to many of the courses required for a Fine Arts major, Graphic Design majors take advanced courses in photography, typography, computer graphics, and video production. Internships are integral to a complete major in Graphic Design at Mount Mercy. Studens are also encouraged to take courses in Marketing, Communication and Computer Science. Given quickly changing technologies, the Art Department stresses a strong conceptual foundation and highly adaptable problem-solving skills.
Careers include: Freelance and corporate-based graphic design, web design, illustration, marketing, public relations, art direction, photo design and retouching, video game design, interior design, and landscape design.
